Bug Description

Binary package hint: firefox-3.0

On a lot of pages I have problem with font size. Letters are very small and are very bad readable. Sometimes little bit help to increase font size with "Ctrl +" (but bigger fonts are than really huge and than page design is "crashed"), but in most cases not.

I have this problem for example on google.com, root.cz, seznam.cz

Ubuntu 8.04 (hardy), Kernel Linux 2.6.24-19-generic, GNOME 2.22.2

3.0+nobinonly-0ubuntu3~fta1~hardy (but it was happen also in 3.0+nobinonly-0ubuntu0.8.04.1 and 3.0~b5+nobinonly-0ubuntu3)

I'm not sure what exactly you're reporting here; you can change your zoom level under view->zoom, and change the font size in the preferences, under the 'content' tab, in the 'fonts & colors' section...

I am sorry, in main this is not problem with zoom tool.

Problem is that when I browse pages with default zoom, letters are very small (and really it is on the most pages). You can see it on images. Of course I tried to set default font-size bigger, minimal font-size etc. but nothing of this helps (for example now I have font size 24 and minimal font size also set to 24 and result is the same as you can see it on the images) and always it is small as on the images.

In Firefox 2.0, there were no problem with this - default zoom was right and pages look like in Opera (and also as in Firefox on Windows, IE etc.). In Firefox 3.0 most of pages looks differently (and I must say terrible :-().

In attach, there is picture from opera, on the same computer and same operating system. There you can see the difference.

When I use zoom tool to make main text (results of search :-)) readable, than it of course make all fonts bigger and it looks like in attach (fonts on the top of the page are huge, fonts in buttons are huge etc.)

So, I understand the problem is with many websites, not only Google?

Yes, that is right - many pages. (Google I get just as example, because everyone knows it and uses it :-)).

another examples are seznam.cz, root.cz, www.battery.cz, www.abclinuxu.cz (this is just what I visited in last hour)

I hope that all these information will help you...

I am experiencing the same problem on two different computers (home and at work). It seems intermittent.

i think i know how to fix this 'problem'
in address bar, type:
about:config
(enter)
in filter box, type:
fonts
(enter)
there should be only 1 line there, double click on:
browser.display.use_document_fonts
it is probably set to 0, the default is 1, change it to 1
that should probably work, u might want to rest other stuff too, type in the filter:
font
(without 's')
(enter)
and check for any other bold lines, they are the ones you have changed, like i reset my:
font.size.variable.x-western
back to default 16 like others
happy browsing ;-)
