Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Can you answer these questions:

Is this issue reproducible? If so, which are the steps that lead to it?
Which Firefox extensions do you have installed?

Also can you try with a new profile? Instruction is at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/MozillaTeam/Bugs/ under 'try with a new profile'

This will greatly aid us in tracking down your problem.

I was having the same problem (on both Ubuntu and on another Windows install) with FF3. I tried a new profile as suggested above and the tabs were re-opened as expected when I ran FF3 the second time with the new profile.

I then returned to my main profile and disabled all my extensions; restarted and opened a few tabs. When I started again the tabs were re-opened without any problems. Then I re-enabled each extension in turn, restarting FF each time. By the time I got to the end of my list the problem was resolved: all the tabs and windows would open up as expected.

Odd, I know, but it now works...

Further to my comment above I have found that using 'File' > 'Quit' or the Ctrl-Q shortcut to close down FF3 preserves the tabs as expected. However, using the [X] 'Close Window' button on the window frame does not preserve the tabs.

Returning to the clean profile all three methods of closing FF3 preserve the tabs as expected.

Back again to my main profile and disabling all add-ons and I find that the window button still does not restore the tabs the next time 'round. Right-clicking on the taskbar and selecting 'Close' is the same (i.e.: tabs are not preserved).

I'll just have to get into the habit of using Ctrl+Q to close FF3 for now?

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue for you. Can you try with the latest Ubuntu release? Thanks in advance.

Hi Martin, sorry for the delay...

Problem still exists in FireFox 3.0.5 with Ubuntu 8.10 ("2.6.27-9-generic #1 SMP Thu Nov 20 21:57:00 UTC 2008 i686 GNU/Linux"). Update manager ran this morning so I'm assuming that it's OK.

If there's any more info that would help then I'm ready to do what I can.

I just encountered this bug after upgrading 8.10 -> 9.04.

I can send whatever information is needed.

I am unable to reproduce this. Whenever there is more than 1 tab open, on close Firefox automatically asks if you want to "Save and Quit" among other options. I assume this is the same for everyone, Maverick (and Lucid LTS for that matter) work the same with Firefox, so this bug report is being closed.
If it *does* continue to be a problem in a supported release, please reopen this bug report by changing the status back to New. Thank you.

This bug is annoying - I tend to keep many tabs open, just to have FF loose them when I re-launch it. How do I re-open it?
