ftp URL should open in Nautilus rather than Firefox.

Bug Description

This exists in Breezy. /desktop/gnome/url-handlers/ftp/command should be set to
Nautilus by default. When I create a new network connection from "Places -->
Connect to Server..." and create an FTP link, it works once, but then later if I
try it, it opens it in Firefox instead. That is very confusing and annoying.
Simply setting the default ftp URL handler is not quite enough to fix this
problem, since the user might tweak the setting and end up with it happening anyway.

Thanks for your bug. There is no /desktop/gnome/url-handlers/ftp set by GNOME by
default. Nautilus open ftp places correctly here. Have you set this key by hand?

I don't know how it got set. Perhaps it is an artifact left over from 5.04
times? I'm not sure how to go about finding out what application may have set
it. In either case, it appears that the key is being honored, and thus the bug
still exists. My guess is that this is really an upstream bug, so if the
maintainer is not familiar enough with the code yet to fix and (submit a patch)
right away, if it was me I'd file it upstream (unless the Gnome maintainers are
subscribed to this buglist also).

No, we didn't do such hack

Sure, you set an handler for ftp://, it's used. What is the bug with that? What
value has this key for you?

That's not a matter to be familiar with the code enough to do a patch, there is
nothing to patch for the moment. Could you be clear on your issue. You have an
app set for ftp:// and you blame GNOME for using it? You probably want to unset
this key rather.

Note that's quite similar to http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=144704

Closing this bug. In Dapper, ftp:// urls are opened in Nautilus by default.

Also there has been no response from the reporter for over six months.

Thank you for reporting this bug. If this issue still exists for you on Dapper, please reopen this bug.

I suspect that this might be something that happends after upgradeing betwean versions.
