Seemingly at random firefox makes my OS go back to the login screen.

Only when I have Firefox open with multiple tabs my Ubuntu installation just goes to a black screen with a bit of text on it, and then I'm back to my login screen. When I log in all applications are closed.

I am using Ubuntu 8.04 64 bit edition.
I am using the firefox 3 beta which comes with the Ubuntu installation.
I have done all updates

 Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue for you. Can you try with the latest Ubuntu release? Thanks in advance.

I have the same problem but it can crashe even if I have Firefox open with one tab. I had the latest updates on 01 -25 -2009 when the problem started. I have cleaned everything and re-installed Ubuntu 8.04.1 LTS Desktop Edition (from the Live CD). At the first start of the new system Firefox crashed. I have done all updates. It works better but it still crashes sometimes.
