From I can see, the change add code to load older kernels (2.6.16 and fc7 installer)). It may be irrelevent to us since we already moved to new kernel.

In any case, what would be take to do the update? Just copy the *.bld file and put in the repository?

There's quite a bit more involved. You'll need to spend some time studying Ubuntu/Debian packaging and get up to speed with the development process. Plenty of info about that on the Ubuntu Wiki (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuDevelopment).
