Bug Description

After installing a new program (confirmed for at least emacs) the Applications -> Accessoirs Menu Entries do not contain "Emacs". After the user has logged out and logged back in the menu entry appears.

Expected behaviour:
No relogin needed for updated menu entries.

user@user-desktop:~$ lsb_release -rd
Description: Ubuntu 8.04
Release: 8.04

Confirmed and assigned to the emacs22 package. I had a very quick look though the package diff file, it does not appear to call update-menus in the postinst script.

Trivially reproducible for emacs-snapshot as well. I'll leave it to somebody else to mark as Confirmed, although I think it's safe to say it can be marked as such.

Yes confirmed by myself on my own system and at least on other person's, definitely confirmed in Intrepid 8.10 X86_32

Changed in emacs-snapshot (Ubuntu):
status: New → Confirmed
