fullscreen apps switch to window mode unexpectedly

vague description, i know... and i did search for it. the closest i could find was this

but i am not sure if it's the same thing. it could be screen saver. the bug happens with the games "defcon" and "frets on fire" on hardy and battle for wesnoth on feisty (untested on gutsy or hardy, was a while ago). compiz is enabled

if the compiz option "unredirect fullscreen windows" is checked, then (in this case) defcon will load up full screen then immediately switch to windowed mode. if the option is unchecked, then it will stay full screen for a while but will eventually switch out to a window.

pretty sure it's something to do with the way sdl works

It's the screensaver kicking in. On my computer, as soon as the app switches to windowed mode, if I stop using the mouse and keyboard the screen will dim to black.

I can also confirm this problem with Hardy 8.04.1. Running full-screen games (I tried Wormux, 20000 Light Years, Slime Volley and GCompris) and they unexpectedly change between full-screen and windowed modes (they change back to full-screen as well).

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Can you try with latest Ubuntu release? Thanks in advance.

We're closing this bug since it is has been some time with no response from the original reporter. However, if the issue still exists please feel free to reopen with the requested information. Also, if you could, please test against the latest development version of Ubuntu, since this confirms the bug is one we may be able to pass upstream for help.

Still the same problem in Ubuntu Intrepid 8.10 - Fullscreen games jump out of full screen mode when screensaver kicks in. Experienced it with Wine games, Pingus, Alien Arena, OpenArena...

Unchanged for Games Warzone 2100 and Glest. Additionally audio is distorted or stops.
