Please note that this symptom is completely intentional. At the time of testing (during the hardy development cycle), mscore didn't play nicely alongside the pulse daemon (please see the mscore changelog entry for version 0.9.1d+dfsg-0ubuntu1).

Hi,

I am the developer who included the script that suspends pulseaudio on starting mscore. This is because, if pulse is running on a card that does not provide hardware mixing, mscore will have no access to that card. Until pulse supports mmap access, or portaudio provides a pulseaudio backend, or OSS replaces ALSA, this script will have to stay in place.

I am marking the bug invalid, as it is not currently fixable in mscore.

Changed in mscore:
status: Confirmed → Invalid
