updating epg is freezing my-tv

Every time the EPG view is updated, the application is frozen for some minutes. During the same time the processor load bumps to 100% and the application doesn't respond to any activity. The video and audio output keeps on running.

I'm using a Hauptauge WinTV Nova SE2 card running on an Athlon XP 2500+ using Ubuntu Hardy.

That does not sound very good. This is usually a result of large amounts of EPG data, as you might have guessed. How many channels do you have and how big is the ~/.me-tv/me-v.config?

There are 728 channels in the channels.conf. Basically the complete
scan of Astra where I have deleted some obscure channels. The size
of epg.xml is about 1.6MB. I have build a smaller channels.conf,
and the situation is improving.

I've had reports of this before but I never hear from the people twice. If you hop onto #me-tv on FreeNode then we can try a few things. BTW, I have 6 channels.

I haven't heard from you. Have you given up? ;) I'm very busy developing 0.6 so I'm happy to try and address these issues in 0.6 but I need your input. I do not have this issue.
