Bug Description

I got the same problem. This is very annoying because you are losing your work if is not saved...
I can't tell you what is the problem, but I manage to replicate the method that makes the gnome to crash.
You must have firefox with a webpage that have flash, and another program (in my case the console). If I minimize the firefox window several times ... the gnome crashes...

I manage to recod this on my phone and put it online at :

http://blog.geod.ro/crash.tar.gz
or
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ufSRPO1vnq4

is related with Bug #230226 and Bug #236621

p.s. apport was enabled, but did not report anything and the crash directory is empty... what more do I need to show you to fix this.... and not to make it invalid.

[Workaround]
Install Flash 10

Thanks for your report, this is not a meta-gnome2, but anyways, does the whole session crashes? may you submit your /var/log/Xorg.0.log ; /var/log/gdm/:0.log ; and your ~/.xsession-errors just after the crash happens? probably an xorg issue, thanks!

thanks, are you sure you're submitting the right logs? they don't show any crash on it, btw i've seen your video and that looks to me like a xorg crash, re assign it for now, thanks.

Yes, they are the right logs... just before it's crashed...

If you want more logs... I'll give it to you.

I've make some tests.

I think it had some connection with flash player because the bug happens if I have several tabs with flash in it by example youtube, and then minimize several times and it's crashes.
If I minimize the firefox browser with pages that have no flash in them, it does not crashes anymore.

Maybe you could make some tests.

Thank you.

Hy there, anyone tried to replicate the crash, or is there any fix for this?

I've think that flash player 9 is crashing the X.org. I recently installed flash player 10 beta and it does not crash any more.

Hi,

I have quite the same issue. It is really annoying to see the whole gnome crashes.
This issue just comes up with Hardy; It didn't exist before.

I have attached my logs. If you need more information please let me know.

Thank you

These crashes look more like ATI card drivers than Xorg in general but i will let the X guys decide.

I would like to insist that I didn't have this problem before Hardy.
