Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-control-center

Im on a laptop, a Presario F700, and i set in the mouse control panel settings to disallow using the touchpad as a button by double tapping it, and although its marked in the control panel, i can still do it.

And i also have vertical scrolling enabled for the touchpad, and it is disabled despite the check box being checked.

I am using ubuntu hardy, latest version available in the repos.

I have some new information, it seems that on boot, the touchpad settings are applied correctly, but then it seems that the kernel loses connection to the touchpad and reconnects, but once it does this, then the touchpad settings are lost

here is a kern.log file showing some interestering lines on whats happening when the touchpad screws up:

I have a similar problem.

I have tap-to-click turned off in the applet and vertical scrolling turned on. However, my touchpad randomly decides to turn tap-to-click on, at odd times (I haven't figured out if anything in particular triggers it). Scrolling also stops working when this happens.

I have a similar problem. If I disable touchpad from System->Preferences->Mouse, it is disabled until I go to standby. When I come back from standby, the "Enable touchpad" checkbox is unchecked, but the touchpad works. I need to check/uncheck it again to disable touchpad.

I experience the same problem with DELL E6400 (ALPS Touchpad), kubuntu 8.10, kernel-2.6.27-11-generic.
I also have a logitech mouse in function.
I join the output of the command you asked.
