The right sidebar should be based on Gnome's places or be user customizable

Bug Description

The items in the right sidebar such as "Home" and "Network" shouldn't be hardcoded.
Those should be taken from Gnome places and gtk "bookmarks" (~/.gtk-bookmarks) so the user could add for example his "Documents" directory to the bar and remove the "Network" item if he has no use for it.

Yep, if the launcher replaces the Ubuntu Menu, it needs to deal with the Places section too.

It should at least have DESKTOP!!

I find it hard to find firefox downloads or anything else that defaults to the Desktop. We need an easy way to view those icons and I think a spot on the right looks perfect.

While I plea for the Desktop as a minimum, the original hope to get all the gnome bookmarks would be great too!

I have an experimental branch that adds functionality similar to the Places part of the Ubuntu menu. The relevant part of the changelog:

- Show a link to the Desktop, just like the Gnome "places" menu does
- Show links to all bookmarked folders (Documents, Pictures, etc),
again like the Gnome menu (sourced from ~/.gtk-bookmarks)
- Remove the "Network" icon to save some space, however allow it to be
displayed by including it as a bookmarked folder
- Move the "remove favorite" trash icon to bottom of the sidebar, where
  it seems more natural

There is a full changelog on the bzr branch page:
https://code.launchpad.net/~mike82/netbook-remix-launcher/work

You can install the package by adding my PPA to /etc/apt/sources.list:
deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/mike82/ubuntu hardy main

The package is of course configured so that the next official ume-launcher release will supersede it.

Bookmarks support merged from Mikes branch (thanks!).

Regarding Desktop access, does nautilus's desktop-is-home dir work for you? (its a gconf setting).
