Bug Description

Binary package hint: ubuntu-docs

While using Ubuntu 7.10 I encountered a message upon start up that I could not display visual effects for the Ubuntu logo and loading screen. In addition, when I went to system>Preferences>Appearance, clicked on the visual effects tab and tried anything but "None", I encountered the error message "The Composite Extension is not available." As a result, I upgraded to Ubuntu 8.04, encountered the exact same problems.

Thanks for your bug. It's not a bug in documentation so I'm reassigning it to the compiz package.

Thanks Phil,

we used to blacklist the rs350 radeon card in gutsy, but it should no longer in hardy (8.04). Could you please check (with dpkg -l or synaptic) what version of compiz-core you have installed?

Thanks,
 Michael
