Bug Description

Please add support for the Hauppauge WinTV NOVA-T-SE / NOVA-T-CE cards. These are very common USB DVB-T cards, very cheap and relatively good quality. The USB ID is 2040:7070.

Support was added upstream in http://linuxtv.org/hg/v4l-dvb/raw-rev/42de2c9fdd03 but is not yet in the Linux kernel. The referenced commit diff applies against the current Hardy kernel.

I am running with the whole drivers/media tree from upstream and it works very well. How well the card works with only the above commit applied to the Hardy kernel, is something I haven't tried yet. Given a reasonable chance that this can be SRU'ed to Hardy I can do the necessary testing.

Does not help hardy proper, of course, but at least it's easier to install the driver now:

The above referenced upstream commit is now in Intrepid: http://kernel.ubuntu.com/git?p=ubuntu/ubuntu-intrepid.git;a=commitdiff;h=c7637b1a31bb0470e1247f1923a323c90927ac37

A backport to 8.04 LTS would be nice.

BTW, the commit diff applies nicely against the current Hardy tree.

I verified that applying the above patch against the Hardy 2.6.24-20-generic kernel made the card work out of the box. I guess it is easiest for you to just cherry-pick the above commit, anyway here's a debdiff as well.

Tim, this is a trivial and nonintrusive patch for hardware enablement in Hardy, which looks approriate for SRU to me. Could you please cherrypick this?

Successfully tested:
1. Used old kernel: the stick is not recognized, and me-tv says no TV tuner found.
2. Updated with hardy-proposed to 2.6.24-21 kernel: The stick is recognized and driver loads correctly - me-tv is happy and I can watch television. Thanks a lot!
