Bug Description

Binary package hint: xserver-xgl

Hardy, xserver-xgl, nvidia-glx-new (currently 169.12)
Try to change screen resolution, either via nvidia-settings or gnome-display-properties, and get back an error. nvidia-settings says it's not the nvidia driver. gnome-display-properties says the server doesn't support XRandR.
You can change the screen resolution by saying
DISPLAY=:0 nvidia-settings
or of course gnome-display-properties. However, the window manager and gnome theming are on display :1, so the windows are undecorated and unthemed, and apps seem not to notice that the resolution has changed (for example avant-window-navigator becomes offscreen if I reduce resolution.)

Incidentally, while the version of Xgl in Hardy does not support XRandR, http://freedesktop.org/wiki/Software/Xgl claims that XRandR support is "100%". I'm going to try building from CVS... wish me luck :P

xserver-xgl has been deprecated upstream, and removed from Intrepid. Closing the bug as won't fix.

Changed in xserver-xgl:
status: New → Won't Fix
