Bug Description

Nvidia's proprietary driver installed and worked fine on the initial release of 8.04. An update that occurred sometime this week (around 6/4/08) broke the driver. A fresh install of Ubuntu that is updated will not load the nvidia driver (173.14.05).

This is on a 9600 gt with a 64bit distro.

Ugh, I wish I could read. Hell, it was even stickied:

Basically it has to do with the linux-restricted-modules-common, which I guess were not included in the original 8.04 dist?

Anyway it is a simple fix, just make sure to stick:

DISABLED_MODULES="nv nvidia_new"

in

 /etc/default/linux-restricted-modules-common

My apologies for creating a useless bug.
