Public bug report changed:
https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/2380

Task: ubuntu bum
         Status: New => Rejected
    Explanation: Hmm, bugs that fix themselves are great. (Now why won't
they
                 all do that?)

It turns out to have been a side-effect of another bug - after
suspending-to-RAM and waking on this ThinkPad T42 system, lots of programs
cause segmentation faults. I mistakenly reported the first one I
encountered.
