also hitting this here. I thought it might be OpenGL, but turning that off doesn't help:

Howzit from Hawaii! I'm an ubuntu & mythtv newbie, so be gentle...

I have a similar problem looking through the mythfrontend.log, but I don't see the "segmentation fault" message. The frontend just quits. It had been working a few iterations earlier... (the same day).

I'd really like to see this project work. IMHO, it seems like myth (frontend) has been unstable since the inception of the dynamic X11 stuff. It wouldn't even work until I ran 7.10 just to copy off xorg.conf into my jaunty system (xubuntu), and add the Option "dri" "off" to accommodate my ati radeon mobility 7500 in my Compaq N610c.

How can I help?

Hmm. After thinking about it, I think my frontend system is too different to be of help? I had so much trouble getting the frontend to work on the 9.04 spin of MythBuntu, that I tried the 8.10 version, and fussed with all kinds of combinations. I finally ended up with an "iffy" Hauppauge WinTV" card on a Jaunty backend. It actually worked once going to my frontend on the N610c. I actually could watch TV. Sound was kinda scratchy, but ok at low volume. Then the frontend started acting up, and the gnashing of teeth began. The present iteration is 9.10 xubuntu for the frontend myth.

I'm game to rebuild (as time permits...)

Another observation... I have noticed that upon reboot of the frontend laptop, I'll get different screen resolutions. This used to happen even before my copying of the xorg.conf. Mythfrontend will come up at when the screen is at a certain resolution. In this case, 1400x1050. I have seen in other posts that this it the "default" for the n610c. Of course, now LiveTV is broken, but that is probably more due to the Hauppauge... Now I bet If I reboot, I'll get a different resolution, and it the frontend won't come up again...

Closing since requested information has not been provided, and since upstream mythtv developers are no longer focused on 0.21 bugs.

If the issue is reproducible on 0.22, please re-open this ticket and we can try to forward this bug upstream to get the right eyes focused on it.

We have builds of mythtv 0.22 available on a PPA to test. Please follow the directions at http://mythbuntu.org/auto-builds to enable them.

WARNING: If you intend to revert back to 0.21 after testing, you will need to back up your database before upgrading.

    Thanks!
