Please dont try to manually update firefox. You can help testing
firefox 3.0 RC1 from the ubuntu hardy-proposed archives now; otherwise
wait a few more days until we finished our QA; then you will auto
upgrade.

Hi mike. Thanks for using Ubuntu, and as Alexander implies, Firefox is updated through Ubuntu's package manager. This happens for many reasons, including because it allows us to test the releases before giving them out to an LTS audience (we don't want sudden breakage!), and because often we have Ubuntu-specific patches to apply to packages before releasing them.

RC1 will come in your automatic updates soon, and perhaps RC2 as well. You can download newer versions but I would recommend being patient and using supported software.

I hope this clarifies things, thanks again!

RC2 is in Hardy proposed repos right now waiting to be tested and pushed
into updates repos It is a good idea to go to RC2 to test.
