Bug Description

Binary package hint: initramfs-tools

I just updated from gutsy to hardy, after rebooting my system wasn't able to read the root-partition.
This is caused by the changes in the kernel-ide-driver-system. Under gutsy I used the "via82cxxx" and "ide-disk"-driver to accesse the hdd. under hardy "pata-via" and "sd_mod" are needed.

My current setup:
/etc/initramfs-tools/initramfs.conf
--------------------------------------------------------------------

MODULES=list

--------------------------------------------------------------------

/etc/initramfs-tools/modules
----------------------------------------------------------------------
ide_disk
via82cxxx
ext3
# for changed kernel-drivers
pata-via
sd_mod
------------------------------------------------------------------------

Maybe ist's not common to to use "MODULES=list" but at least a warning should be displayed to the user to verify the content of "/etc/initramfs-tools/modules". An automatic conversion of the entries would be hint, of course.

Perhaps the file "/etc/modules" needs to be checked / updated also.
