-- Currently in Debian testing --

" RabbitVCS is a set of graphical tools written to provide simple and straightforward access to the version control systems you use. Currently, it is integrated into the Nautilus file manager and only supports Subversion, but our goal is to incorporate other version control systems as well as other file managers.

RabbitVCS is inspired by TortoiseSVN and others. "

This projects seems really nice (never head of it before). I've got myself a little bit experience of python nautilus extension packaging by getting my own one (http://launchpad.net/nautilus-clamscan) into Debian, and will be glad to help with that.

Hi Clément Lorteau,

How is your progress on this, is it a big job?

The site http://jasonfield.com/freebies/ is down but the following may help:

http://www.movingtofreedom.org/2007/10/30/subversion-svn-gnome-nautilus-script-helpers/

it has a cache of the .deb, .tar.gz files from http://jasonfield.com/freebies/

Thanks!

Hi,

Luckily when this bug was filed the site was not down and I could get my hand on the packages. Thanks for the link anyway.

The package I made is in REVU, waiting for MOTUs to have a look at it: http://revu.tauware.de/details.py?package=nautilussvn.

Thanks for packaging my work :o) The code and example debs that I make are now available via Google Code which should make them available 100% of the time;

Thanks again,

We're working on a new version of NautilusSvn right now (v0.12 branch) and we'll be building our own Debian packages using a Python distutils setup script according to all the relevant Debian/Ubuntu packaging guidelines. We're planning to setup a PPA as a Launchpad team for distributing these packages. We'll notify everybody of the new release through our mailing list.

For our packaging documentation see:

http://code.google.com/p/nautilussvn/wiki/Packaging

Thanks though Clément Lorteau for building the package at the time.

You will not contact the MOTU to have this package in Ubuntu directly ?

This is a very slick project. It would be a shame not to include it in the upcoming karmic release.

I'd like to point out that in the meantime NautilusSvn has been renamed to RabbitVCS, the official homepage is at http://rabbitvcs.org/.

@zedtux: To answer your question, I have no plans as of yet to contact MOTU to get this package included in Ubuntu directly. For now, I'm satisfied with people installing it through the official PPA at https://launchpad.net/~rabbitvcs/+archive/ppa.

I'd also like to add that I have requested sponsorship for Debian a few times, but to no avail. If it makes it into Debian, it should make its way into Ubuntu naturally.

Updated the description because the project is now called RabbitVCS (http://rabbitvcs.org/) and I think is in Debian Testing (according to their blog: http://blog.rabbitvcs.org/archives/218)
