Bug Description

I am using mail notification 5.4 and when my machine is offline mail notification icon will blink as for an error. Unless I missed some configuration option, I guess that a specific icon for offline mode would be preferable.

You can disable the blink-on-errors GConf setting. To edit the MN GConf settings, type the following command:

  gconf-editor /apps/mail-notification

Changed in mail-notification:
status: New → Invalid

Thanks, but I guess mine was more a feature request, maybe I should have mentioned it.

If all error notifications are disabled, than an useful feature is lost. I just wonted to suggest that a behaviour similar to pidgin, liferea and others could be preferable: the icon blinks when the pc is online but mail servers cannot be reached, when the system is offline mail notification just waits and notifies its status.

Ok, I've had a look at the liferea source code and I see what you mean. They use Network Manager to get the online/offline state. I'll think about it.

I would also appreciate fixing this issue.

Currently using wireless networking always results in a mail-notification error. As wireless is handled by the network manager (which is only active after gnome login), mail-notification always starts before the wireless network finishes its connection, so on every login an error is reported.

Thanks.

This feature request may be useful to fix a bug I just reported. See bug #309863: https://bugs.launchpad.net/mail-notification/+bug/309863

I just entered the bug tracker to ask for this feature as well. Everytime I start a session, the wireless connection starts after the mail notification icon starts to blink, so I have to manually check for mail everytime. Thank you.

Wish number one for mail-notification for me too!!! In addition to problems described above, if I stay offline for several minutes (>10min), mail-notification eventually crashes and starts using 100% cpu time, so I have to kill it...
