Bug Description
Binary package hint: kdebase-workspace
Running Kubuntu Hardy.
Just upgraded to the new KDE 4.1 beta 1 packages and now I can't get a KDE 4.x desktop as plasma crashes right after login. I can log in but there's no kickoff, applets, etc, just a black screen with a mouse cursor. Can only launch apps with krunner (alt-F2).
Here's the back trace....
Application: Plasma Workspace (plasma), signal SIGSEGV

Hope this helps. Will definitely need to resolve before these much anticipated packages are announced to Kubuntu users.

Removing the existing ~/.kde4/ share/config/ plasma- appletsrc file seems to eliminate the problem.
A new file will be created and KDE 4.1 beta 1 will start properly.
