Bug Description

Binary package hint: flashplugin-nonfree

Hi all,
When I tried to install flashplugin-nonfree from a gnome only install (Ubuntu), it tries to install (then uninstall apparently) much of KDE.

See below when I did a simulated install:

sudo apt-get install -s flashplugin-nonfree

Hi Joel

Can you try running "sudo apt-get autoremove", and see if the same thing still happens after that? (This will automatically remove any packages that you didn't specifically ask for, and it now thinks are not needed).

If that doesn't solve it, then, if you haven't already, run "sudo apt-get update" to update the package lists, and try again.

If you are still seeing it, then try to use a package manager (synaptic, adept, or aptitude) to determine which package it is that flashplugin-nonfree depends on. There is nothing obvious in its dependencies that should relate to KDE.

Thats the funny thing about it. Those packages are not yet installed. I have updated and autoremoved. This sim shows that it is going to download and configure all of these extra packages and then mark them as not longer needed.

The only thing I am not sure of is if it is the package that has the problem or my computer (this installation of Ubuntu for example - perhaps a bad configurations file).

Is there anything else I can try, or info I can provide?

What command will generate a list of dependencies? I can see a list when I click properties in Synaptic, but I can't post that.

Sorry for so many quick posts. I can say from the synaptic list that konqueror-nsplugins is listed as suggests. Is it possible that somehow I have some setting somewhere set to install all suggests? If so, where is that setting.

Thanks

That was it, sorry to bother people over this, my apt.conf had install suggests set to true. Setting it to false has fixed the problem.
Thanks again
