gnome-appearance-properties uses too many cpu

Bug Description

I'm using Ubuntu Hardy Heron with backport repository enabled and updated. I noticed recently that when I run gnome-appearance-properties it costantly uses a lot of cpu and it's difficult to change the wallpaper because you have to click on it several times
