Bug Description

I run the most up to date breezy-rc1 as of October 9th on a Compaq Evo N610c
laptop dual booting with windows. Everytime that I go to Start --> Shutdown -->
Restart in windows, grub eats itsself.

Here is what happens:
1.) I see the bios screen
2.) I see grub loading stage 1.5 for ~1 second
3.) The computer reboots and in the second loop it hangs.

I have to reboot to my hoary livecd to fix it everytime and reinstalling grub is
the solution.
From grub>
          root (hd0,4)
          setup (hd0)

will fix it, but everytime I reboot? This is a breezy showstopper.

Very strange, especially that reinstalling grub fixes it (but only for one reboot?)

Does the problem only appear after you have booted in to windows or also occurs
when you just reboot ubuntu?

This was a problem with windows xp sp2. As of last week, the latest windows
update fixed the problem. I think it had something to do with Norton Antivirus
that my employer insists is installed and running (the login script checks if
NAV is running). After the latest update, I haven't had any problems.
