Thanks for your bugreport.
Did you try a update from the hardy CD with 6.06 kubuntu? Unfortuantely this is not supported. As a workaround you can install "update-manager" from dapper-updates and re-run the command. This will perform the upgrade with the gtk version of the upgrader.
