Bug Description

Binary package hint: gvfs-backends

If X crashes or is restarted with ctrl + alt + backspace several autostarted apps aren't closed. This are in standard Hardy installation gvfsd-burn, gvfsd-trash, trackerd and dbus-daemon.
After trying to reproduce a crash I had over 20 running processes of each of them. Even if gdm is stopped the processes doesn't disappear.

Steps to reproduce:
1.login in gdm and wait some time until all apps are started
2.hit ctrl + alt + backspace
3.relogin and check running processes

that's not a gvfs bug but rather a dbus issue

This is perfectly normal, these applications are spawned by your session but are not attached to X - thus they never receive notification of the loss of your session.

Instead they timeout normally after a short time, usually when they finish whatever they're working on
