Bug Description

When I visit any site that has flash, the site will load fine. But upon leaving
the site to go to any other site, it will hang indefinitely. The strace of it
has it hanging with the following:

gettimeofday({1128911147, 987627}, NULL) = 0
select(0, NULL, NULL, NULL, {0, 11000}) = 0 (Timeout)
gettimeofday({1128911147, 997921}, NULL) = 0
select(0, NULL, NULL, NULL, {0, 11000}) = 0 (Timeout)
gettimeofday({1128911148, 9486}, NULL) = 0
select(0, NULL, NULL, NULL, {0, 11000}) = 0 (Timeout)
gettimeofday({1128911148, 19909}, NULL) = 0
select(0, NULL, NULL, NULL, {0, 11000}) = 0 (Timeout)
gettimeofday({1128911148, 31005}, NULL) = 0
select(0, NULL, NULL, NULL, {0, 11000}) = 0 (Timeout)
gettimeofday({1128911148, 41902}, NULL) = 0
select(0, NULL, NULL, NULL, {0, 11000}) = 0 (Timeout)
gettimeofday({1128911148, 52856}, NULL) = 0

This occurs as long as I let it hang. This does not occur using the same flash
plugin for firefox 1.5b1 or epiphany.

I am currently using firefox 1.0.7-0ubuntu19

This works for me. Which flash plugin are you using ? Could you please try it
with a fresh profile (move .mozilla aside) and no extensions other than the
flash plugin ?

i have tried deleting .mozilla/firefox but never moving the entire directory...
i did that and it worked. it was one of the top files in .mozilla... i deleted
pluginreg.dat and that fixed it.

i take that back. upon visiting certain sites this still happens. one example
is aeonflux.com ... it also only shows part of the flash. and i'm using the
flashplugin-nonfree package

This does sound very much like a problem with the flash plugin. Please could
you resubmit the bug via malone ? Thanks.

I moved my .mozilla aside (breezy badger) and I get this on various sites.
I have flashplayer-mozilla 7.0.25-0.0ubuntu1 and firefox 1.0.7-0ubuntu20

Some examples:

www.barbie.com
click on "teen trends" at the top moving text row
click "make a mini magazine" bottom right
work through it, it gets stuck, firefox locks up, strace -p recovers it

http://www.bbc.co.uk/cbeebies/tweenies/gametime/sweetdreams/
click on the "moon" - it gets stuck
strace -p does not recover it but shows repeatedly:

This seems to me like it is probably a bug in the Flash player. So, please file
a launchpad support request.

Or problem with Flash/FirefoxonUbuntu integration. Others GNU/Linux distributions don't have this "bug". Maybe this issue must have a ressurrection...

after updating to flash 10, so far so good, no more hangs.
But I can't be sure this issue has been 100% fixed.
