Interface gets stuck in "play" mode even when stopped

Bug Description

Often, after having stopped Audacity from playing some audio, the interface gets stuck in play mode.

This means that the stop button remains highlighted and that it's impossible to do just about anything, such as edited audio, saving and so on. The following message appears in a dialogue:

"You can also do this when playing and recording are stopped. [Pausing is not sufficient.]"

Using the zoom tool is the only way I've found, so far, to break out of this.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been
any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue
for you. Can you try with the latest Ubuntu release (Jaunty)? Thanks in advance.

I upgraded to Jaunty last night (and I'm using Audacity 1.3.7), and have just experienced this again.

Do you still experience this bug in Ubuntu 9.10 (karmic)?

Thanks for the reply - I've not yet upgraded to Karmic; I will try and update this once I get round to that.

I've been able to reproduce this in Karmic and Jaunty but only under certain conditions - removing audio from the end of the file and then trying to play it back.

I had it as well.

Interface frozen. Impossible to do anything. Sometimes, and I say sometimes, the zoom will reinit the interface. If not, I will need to use a force to quit.

It seems a fade out or some operation at the end of the wave can create it.

Karmic + Audacity ® 1.3.9 (Unicode)
