Bug Description

Binary package hint: glchess

In glChess, selecting Contents from the help menu finishes the game, stating the White has won because "one of the players has died". The help window does come up though.

Ubuntu 8.04

glchess version info:
 Candidate: 1.0+debian-1
  Version table:
     1.0+debian-1 0

I expected the game not to finish and say "White won - one of the players had died".

What I didn't expect happened.

I can confirm this.

1. start glchess
2. make sure you play a game against the computer (should be default)
3. chose Help|Contents
4. observe how the current game is interrupted. (connection to GNU Chess broken?)

Changed in glchess:
status: New → Confirmed

This just happened to me. We were in a dead drawn king and pawns (no pieces on either side) endgame. The game was going to end in threefold repetition soon. We were probably on move 40-50 somewhere. I haven't had any problems with GNU Chess ending unexpectedly. I'm in Ubuntu 8.04, I think it is. It was one of those "opposition" endgames where I just had to avoid occupying a certain square to maintain the draw.
