Bug Description

Binary package hint: compiz

When using two panels on the bottom screen edge, maximized windows reach to the upper border of the lower of the two panels, the upper panel of the two panels on the bottom of the window overlap the maximized screen.
To easily test this, maximize Firefox with enabled statusbar.
When only one bottom panel is used, the statusbar is visible. When you have a second panel at the bottom of the screen, the top panel of the two bottom panels overlaps the maximized window.
Using Ubuntu 8.04, compiz 0.7.4-0ubuntu6.

Thank you for filing this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. I could not reproduce this bug in Ubuntu 8.04 with Compiz . When I brought both my panels to the bottom, maximized Firefox to fill the screen area, the Firefox window's lower/bottom border got placed above the top panel and not the top of bottom panel, thereby both the panels were visible. Hence, closing this bug until some one can confirm the same.

See the attached two screenshots.
It works fine with one panel on top and one on bottom, and not when both are on the lower edge of the screen.

I have the same problem. And I also have dual monitors as Sebastian.
Maybe it's a combination of compiz/dual monitor/graphics driver that causes the issue.

As soon as I turn off the second screen, it works as it should.

weird. i have a different problem. anyone know if there is a bug report? When i have two screens (actually, only when the second screen is turned on at boot), my window borders disappear only for maximized or near maximized windows.

Dual monitors seems to be the difference; both gnome+compize and xfce4+compiz maximize to cover the panel with a dual head system, but a single monitor works fine.

I also get this problem, but for two panels at the right side of my screen. I do not get this problem with two panels at the top, on the left, or at the bottom of my screen. I do not get this problem with a panel at the left and a panel at the right, and I do not get the problem with a panel at the top and a panel at the bottom. Which is a bit of a bummer: of the 6 ways I could arrange my two panels, the one I want happens to be the one that doesn't work. But I'm sure there's some anthropic principle for bugs. Sorry, first time bug reporter - I'll learn to be terse soon, I'm sure.

I'll attach a screenshot. Note the cut off scroll bad, maximize and close buttons, and right-side icons in Firefox.

I'm running Ubuntu 8.10; the bug is present with every application I can think of; I don't know if it's a compiz problem but I can say that compiz-decorator is running (and no other compiz* processes) as reported by System Monitor.

I'm not running any dual monitor stuff. I'm just running a Dell Inspiron 6000 (laptop).

summary: - maximized window extent wrong with two panels on bottom screen edge
+ maximized window extent wrong with two panels on bottom screen edge when
+ using dual monitors
