Bug Description

Binary package hint: python-virtinst

Original Ubuntu 8.04 Desktop Dom0 (amd64) setup had been done per Todd Deshane's
instruction:- http://deshantm.livejournal.com/29959.html
Functionality of Solaris Nevada Build 89 PV and HVM DomUs tested fine,
as well as F8 and WinXP HVM guests. Everything had been committed with
xen manager and corresponding python profiles.
All above works also on Ubuntu 8.04 Server Dom0 (amd64) , just no need to remove network-manager.

Then i have tried to put virt-install in work and followed :-
   https://help.ubuntu.com/8.04/serverguide/C/libvirt.html
# apt-get install kvm libvirt-bin
# adduser $USERNAME libvirtd
Relogin :-
# apt-get install python-virtinst
No errors reported during installs. However , i have noticed references for 7.10
repositories during download.

root@boris-desktop:~# virt-install

System upgraded to 2.6.24-17-xen.
Network is fine. Virt-install same behavior.

I've also been hit by this bug.

Having recently installed xen on Centos 5.1, I've been a bit disappointed with the problems I've had with getting it running on Ubuntu (8.04 amd64 server, intel core 2).

I realise that Ubuntu has decided to favour KVM, but like the original submitter, As one of my VMs I'm wanting to try is a Solaris DomU, I need xen instead of KVM.

Debug output:

titus# virt-install --connect=xen:/// --debug
Would you like a fully virtualized guest (yes or no)? This will allow you to run unmodified operating systems. no

Wed, 25 Jun 2008 20:31:35 DEBUG Path is block file: Assuming Block disk type.
Floating point exception

(I'd previously run lvcreate to create /dev/mapper/vg1-mythtv)

I am using a LV as disk to install the VM.

Local Apache Simulated Mirrors provide an option to install PV DomUs in graphical mode for RH (F8,CentOS 5.X) & Suse (OpenSuse 11.X) xen enabled enabled distros at Ubuntu Hardy Dom0. View for details :-

Technique mentioned above also works fine for the most recent Xen 3.3.1rc1 port
to CentOS 5.2.

Thanks for reporting this issue. Are you still able to reproduce this with a current version of Ubuntu, such as 10.10 (maverick)?
