Bug Description

Binary package hint: firefox

I just upgraded from Gutsy to Hardy and along with it came firefox 3. I just noticed a problem with attempting to change the default download options. Here is what I see:

Edit -> Preferences. From the 'Main' tab, the Downloads section has option to "Save files to" which is currently default to Desktop. There is also a browse button to change where to save to. Other radio button option besides "Save files to" is "Always ask me where to save files".

1. If I hit the "Browse" button, I get a window that allows me to change to a different directory. But after I confirm by hitting the "Open" button, the "Save Files To" still shows Desktop, not where I previously just selected. When I test, downloads to to the desktop. It does not appear I can change to any other directory, because it always shows Desktop on the Preferences window.

2. If I select the "Always ask me where to save files" radio button option, when I test a download, I do get a pop up window that asks me where to save to. However, no matter where I select to save to (even Desktop), once I click the "Save" button, nothing happens, nothing downloads. Monitoring my NIC I can see no download traffic.

I have same lsb_release and firefox policy. I attempted to duplicate the problem on my system and everything appears to work correctly. Selecting "Always ask ..." caused a popup to appear doing a download and saved the file. Selecting a different "Save Files To" directory worked as expected. Unable to duplicate problem.

I cannot reproduce this. Changing the download directory works for me

Please try to disable your extensions in the dialog accessible through
the Tools -> Addons menu item.

Please post a screenshot from the file dialog right before you hi the
"Save" button ... where nothing happens.

further explain what "nothing" means here: does the file dialog close?

also please try RC1 which should be in hardy-updates by now.
