Bug Description

Binary package hint: compiz-fusion-plugins-main

The following Preferences applications cannot be moved across screens using Expo:

* About Me
* Appearance
* Assistive Technologies
* Bluetooth
* Encryption and Keyrings
* Keyboard
* Keyboard Shortcuts
* Network Proxy
* PalmOS Devices
* Power Management
* Preferred Applications
* Remote Desktop
* Removable Drives and Media
* SCIM Input Method Setup
* Screen Resolution
* Screensaver
* Search and Indexing
* Sessions
* Sound
* Windows

Don't have time to test Administration windows at the moment, but I'll add it when I have time.

I wonder what this is. Do the applications have to support it explicitly?

Regards,
Friðrik Már

Wow, you are right! I can confirm this here with apparently everything installed by default in System/[Preferences|Administration]. Of note, things added later can be dragged just fine (awn-manager, ccsm). Also of note, "Help and Support" and "About Ubuntu", in the System menu, are draggable, while "About Gnome" is not.

Windows definitely do not need to explicitly support this, I have no idea what the issue is.

I just want to update that this still affects Intrepid with Compiz 1:0.7.7+git20080807-0ubuntu13.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. The issue that you reported is one that should be reproducible with the live environment of the Desktop CD of the development release - Karmic Koala. It would help us greatly if you could test with it so we can work on getting it fixed in the next release of Ubuntu. You can find out more about the development release at http://www.ubuntu.com/testing/. Thanks again and we appreciate your help.

I can no longer confirm this in 9.10, all the windows previously unable to move across in expo seem to work fine now. Though Travis, for an issue so simple to test, you might just try confirming it yourself first before incompleting the bug :)

status: Incomplete → Fix Released

I actually did test it but I've learned my lesson, never close a compiz bug as "Works for Me" even in a newer release. Too many corner cases.
