recent update clobbers libpython2.3.so.1.0

3) Program will not load.
4) Error message:
LyX: reconfiguring user directory
python: error while loading shared libraries: libpython2.3.so.1.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
LyX: Done!
TextClassList::Read: unable to find textclass file `'. Exiting.-

Apparently the most recent python update replaces the 2.3 version of libpython with 2.5. Possible resolutions: run tandem copies of libpython (2.3 and 2.5) or recompile lyx.

Does the problem still exist, with or without LyX 1.5.5-1 (from hardy-backports or Intrepid)?
