Bug Description

Hardy Final updated today. The nv free driver is still broken GeForce 6100 nForce 430 (rev a2).

I tested with two monitors, one with 17" 1280x1024 native resolution, and the screen gets displaced to the right, even auto-configuring the monitor the problem remains. This is solved using Nvidia propietary driver.

The other monitor is an LG FLATRON m228wd with 1680x1050 native resolution. Setting this resolution on control panel gets an enlarged image (the bottom is not shown in the monitor). I am attaching screenshots (digital camera) showing this. I almost get crazy trying to figure out where was the problem; the monitor is new and I thought at first that the problem was the monitor. I thought that I was using the propietary driver but a kernel update deactivated it.
Finally changing to propietary fixes this too.

Sorry for my english.

I can confirm this problem on Hardy with the graphic adapter:

VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation C51G [GeForce 6100] (rev a2) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller])

and the nv driver.

I have same kind of problem in Hardy Heron. My hardware is Asus M2N-VM SE and with Samsung 24BW digital flat panel (1920x1200). It worked well with Gutsy Gibbon.

This bug report was filed against an old version of Ubuntu.
Can you confirm whether this is still an issue in natty?

If you don't mind, it would be very helpful if you could update the bug
report in launchpad to 'Fix Released' if it is no longer an issue for
you, or if it is still occurring under natty, please tag the bug 'natty'
so it's easier for us to track.
