Bug Description

I have a freshly installed Kubuntu Hardy with all the updates to date. NV was working ok as it should, but when I used Jockey to switch to NVIDIA-GLX-NEW I get weird behavior on 3D. The computer and Kubuntu is behaving nicely until I introduce some 3D, like glxgears or OpenGL screensaver. It flickers and tries constantly to change screen resolution. Back and forth. I have no resolution forced in the XORG.

My card is Geforce 5200FX. Is there a way to query it if the card is ok? Could be the card too, dunno. But better to open this bug here before I scrap the card!

Hi toni-helenius,

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Can you try with the latest development release of Ubuntu? (ISOs are available from cdimage.ubuntu.com)

If it remains an issue, could you also attach a new /var/log/Xorg.0.log?
Thanks in advance.

The output of lspci -vvnn would also be worth having.

Yes, it's an issue still. I'll try Hardy with all the updates and Intrepid as soon as I can. Going to explore Asia now, so no time time to play with computers for awhile :)

This bug report was filed against an old version of Ubuntu.
Can you confirm whether this is still an issue in natty?

If you don't mind, it would be very helpful if you could update the bug
report in launchpad to 'Fix Released' if it is no longer an issue for
you, or if it is still occurring under natty, please tag the bug 'natty'
so it's easier for us to track.

I don't have the hardware anymore. So I can't verify this anymore.

Since the hardware is no longer available for doing troubleshooting with, we'll have to close the bug for now. However please feel free to reopen if you or anyone else has the same HW and can reproduce this issue using the latest development version of Ubuntu and is willing to do some troubleshooting with it.
