This occurs in xinerama mode.

Spanning multiple montors in fullscreen may not be desirable, especially if they are different sizes/resolutions.

Disabling xinerama is a work-around.

OK, so this happens if you maximize ffox using the "maximize" button
in the window decoration right?

When using multiple monitors using xinerama and expanding to full screen using windows decoration maximize button in gnome 2.22.2, Firefox 3.0 maximizes filling both screens. Although this may be desireable in some cases, in my case and possibly others it is not.

The commercially available Windows program Thumbsplus offers the option of maximizing it's main window to all screens or current screen for full screen operation. I think this might be a good solution for Firefox, et al.

I resolved the problem for myself by disabling xinerama, but others might appreciate this potential option.

Do you have desktop effects on?

What other applications are affected by this bug?

For firefox: does pressing F11 (going to firefox full screen) span
both screens too?

I have disabled twin view and now work with separate screens, not
possible to revert—this is a active workstation.

We were wondering if this is still an issue for you. Can you try with the latest Ubuntu release? Thanks in advance.
