Bug Description
Currently, Pidgin upstream looks to create a gconfaudiosink under GNOME. If that fails or when not running GNOME, it tries to create an autoaudiosink. Pidgin in Debian (and Ubuntu) uses gconfaudiosink right away. A patch [0] has been submitted upstream to eliminate all this behavior and let playbin do the work for us. We need to determine which is correct and do the same thing everywhere if possible.

I've accepted the patch from #5770 upstream, but kept the gconfaudiosink- under-GNOME check first. We still need to hash that out with Debian & GStreamer.
