Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Please attach your X server configuration file (/etc/X11/xorg.conf) and X server log file (/var/log/Xorg.0.log) to the bug report as individual uncompressed file attachments using the "Attachment:" box below. Could you please also try to run without any /etc/X11/xorg.conf and let Xorg autodetect your display and video card? Please also attach the /var/log/Xorg.0.log from this attempt. Thanks in advance.

Already is an auto-configured one (made using this command: X -configure)
Or you mean should i run X *without* a conf file? To let it create it itself?...
Please let me know.
Attached you can find the actual files:
xorg.conf
Xorg.0.log

Okay, seems that the new updates (new kernel 2.6.24-20 and related) have solved the problem.
Till now, since i've upgraded, i have not seen this bug anymore, so is very likely that it has been solved.
In the case were to happen this bug again, i will re-open this report.

I'm still having this bug. And i'm actually using 2.6.24-21 kernel.
I would not to mistake but i think the bug is related to GDM, because it never occured when using KDE.
Greetings.

I think i have found the problem.
Seems that the bug occur only when there is no audio device inserted (or it's inserted/connected but OFF).
This might be helpful to solve this bug.

sore, there is not an error message in your Xorg.0.log, which makes it hard to figure out how to troubleshoot this one.

Can you also look in your /var/log/gdm/* files after reproducing the issue, and see if one has relevant looking error messages? Attach any that look like they may be relevant.

It would also be helpful if you could see if you could reproduce this bug on Jaunty.

We're closing this bug since it is has been some time with no response from the original reporter. However, if the issue still exists please feel free to reopen with the requested information. Also, if you could, please test against the latest development version of Ubuntu, since this confirms the bug is one we may be able to pass upstream for help.
