Bug Description

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-trident

I'm using Ubuntu 8.04 on a Toshiba Portege 4010 Laptop (graphic card : Trident Cyberblade XPAi1.
I cannot activate the visual effects. It seems that hardware acceleration is not activated even if the graphic card can do it.
I tried to add an option noaccel "off" in xorg.cong. It didn't work.
glxinfo | grep "direct rendering" returns : direct rendering: No

I hope it will be helpful

I think the trident driver only supports 2D acceleration.

Hi gysirith,

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Can you try with the latest development release of Ubuntu? (ISOs are available from cdimage.ubuntu.com)

If it remains an issue, could you also attach a new /var/log/Xorg.0.log?
Thanks in advance.

The output of lspci -vvnn would also be worth having.

I'm running into the same issue with my mother-in-law's laptop - an hp pavilion xh675. Graphics Card is: Trident Microsystems CyberBlade/XP (rev 63). I can't enable the visual effects. I had 8.10 and now have 9.04 with the same issue.

Here's my output on the command you asked the gysirith to get for you:
