No notifcation when new mails arrive

Binary package hint: mozilla-thunderbird

There is no notification shown when new mail arrives in Thunderbird on 8.04.

The notification is shown when pressing "Get mail" but not when the mail is downloaded by itself.

Update:
Its not when the mail get downloaded by itself but when you have the Thunderbird window minimized in the taskbar.

Thank you for taking the time to report this issue and helping to make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we require some additional information from you before we can begin work on this issue:

What version of Ubuntu are you running? You can quickly find this by going to the System menu and choosing About Ubuntu. Your Ubuntu version is under the Ubuntu logo.

What version of Thunderbird are you running? You can easily find this in Thunderbird by going to the Help menu and choosing About Mozilla Thunderbird.

Do you have the 'thunderbird-traybiff' package installed? This package provides a tray icon to notify you of new messages. You can check this by opening Synaptic Package Manager (System -> Administration -> Synaptic Package Manager) and searching for "thunderbird-traybiff" (without the quotes). If it is installed, the square to the left of the name will be green. If not, can you please install it (click the square and choose "Mark for Installation", then click Apply) and see if this is still an issue?
