Bug Description
Binary package hint: totem
Removing totem and installing totem-xine does not result in removing the totem that cannot play DVD's and replace it with the one that can.
Steps to reproduce:
- Install Hardy 8.04
- Remove totem
- Install totem-xine
The file /usr/bin/totem still exists, it's a symlink to /etc/alternativ
What seems like the desired behaviour to me:
- Removing totem means: remove these symlinks and totem-gstreamer should be removed
- Installing totem-xine means: if totem is not installed, install totem-xine in the gnome menu (& and maybe set as default player for some media types)

importance: | Undecided → Low |
I think the right way to install totem-xine is only to issue:
sudo apt-get install totem-xine
totem-xine conflicts with totem-gstreamer, and the latter will be removed automatically. totem is only a virtual package, no need to remove it.
Can you chech that, and report so we can do something or close the bug ? Thanks.
