rhythmbox will not play music from cd

When I opened Rhythmbox to play a file, it appeared as though the file would play (the play button was depressed), but the time bar never moved. It's not that I can't hear anything, it's that the program is not playing anything.

thank you for your bug report, is the issue specific to the audio cds?

unsteeled, you don't seem to have the same problem, please open a new report.

I found that the sound card/drivers did not install properly. I reinstalled Ubuntu and this resolved the problem.

Same problem here. I had meddled with ALSA and PulseAudio settings, since upgrading to Hardy, while trying to make audio capture work. I was unsuccessful, and may have broken Rhythmbox somehow. I have also messed with codecs and the medibuntu repo since then, trying to fix DVD playback, which was successful, but also may have broken Rhythmbox. Is there any conf I can upload that will help?

closing the bug since that was a driver issue and the submitter fixed it now

The CD's title/track information comes up appropriately in the information bar of the player but the player won't play the music.

Now, a few minutes later, the music player is blank and still not playing, almost like a Windows program freeze.

I can play the music CD with the Ubuntu Movie Player without a problem so I know my Audio Card are drivers are fine.

Now it says the player is "(paused)"
