Issue for ext3, rieserfs, and fat32 at least. Those are the only volumes I have available for test.

 i agree with this bug

got three internal hard drives 80 gig mounted /media/VirtualMachines, 250 gig mounted /media/HardDrives, 1tb mounted /media/Backups

Displayed on desktop as 76.0 GB Media, 250.7 GB Media, 1000.2 GB Media respectively

used this work around https://help.ubuntu.com/community/RenameUSBDrive
to fix the issue

as I'm writing this the 250.7 GB Media drive is now called VirtualMachines

I am also running into this bug. Ubuntu 8.04 with all updates as of Jun 25, 2008.

I inserted a 16MB CompactFlash memory card (filesystem type msdos) and I am unable to rename the volume.

Three users have reported the bug, it is easily repeatable. Switching to confirmed.
