some problems with sound and video

hi there, UBUNTU is great, i have a small problem, and i am shure that you can fix it. when i use firefox and i for example want to play a video from youtube, i can't hear the sound if the music player is active.or i can't play songs from the music player if i watch the video on youtube. thanx!

i also have a problem with video, vertical bars appear on the screan my resolution is 1024*768 32bit and 60mhz i tried to reduce the resolution or the refresh rate, but it is same
