Can't start desktop effects

Binary package hint: desktop-effects-kde

The bug happens on Kubuntu 8.04 Hardy.
Ever since I've Upgraded Kubuntu from Gusty to Hardy it stopped working.
When I try to turn it on, it says: the composite extension not available.

Hello,
The deskop-effects-kde is unmaintained by it's original authors and has been removed from the Ubuntu archives for future releases. It has been replaced by the built-in desktop effects settings within System Settings. Therefore it will not be any updates for it, excepting fixes for security issues if they arise.
