Could you please share the versions of the libraries you are using, and the codecs with which the target videos are encoded? Also, does this appear to be the same problem discussed under https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/2339?

I'm using gstreamer0.8-ffmpeg 0.8.6-0ubuntu2 package. The file says it's a divxPro 5.1.1 & yes, it could be the same problem as the one discussed in the link you have provided, at least the error messages seem to be the same ones I'm having.

I apologise; this indeed sounds like the bug which I was talking about and duffman is correct that the bug is more likely in gst-ffmpeg than in totem itself. I have subscribed to this bug and if any traces etc. are needed I would be happy to help.

I'm actually seeing this same problem with Theora videos and Totem. Stupid example file:

Strangely enough, things work fine when I create/run the pipeline from commandline, e.g.:

'gst-launch-0.8 filesrc location=/home/wlach/Desktop/Dosa_preparation.ogg ! decodebin ! ffmpegcolorspace ! xvimagesink'

.. which leads me to believe that the problem is totem. I'll investigate this some more next week.

"totem http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/6/6f/Dosa_preparation.ogg" works fine with current totem-gstreamer in dapper, do you still have that issue? What does it do exactly?
