Bug Description

Binary package hint: kde

The Kubuntu install does not correctly install the mime type dependencies required by Gnome based programs like Evolution.

To make Evolution behave as expected when you right click on an attachment, the /etc/gnome/defaults.list file is needed, and must be symlinked to $HOME/.local/share/applications/defaults.list.

It is also necessary to ensure that the .desktop files referred to by the defaults.list file must be in /usr/share/applications. KDE apps are typically in /usr/share/applications/kde. These must be symlinked to /usr/share/applications.

I too have this problem - <rant>I had to switch from kontact/kmail because of the "HTML is evil!" attitude for SENDING messages (odd, very, very odd.) </rant>

Anyway, I tried the Evolution's attachments on 2 computers and 3 accounts - this problem is NOT "undecided" but very DECIDED a problem! HOWEVER, I (for some reason) do NOT have a /etc/gnome/defaults.list file - so NO FIX for me. YES - I did try the linking in para2 - HELP!

Kubuntu "Gutsy" 8.04 - Evolution 2.22.1

This stuff should be taken care of by the evolution package.

Also linking stuff from /etc to $HOME is nonesense as everything in $HOME should be writeable by $USER, which is not the case for fiels from /etc. Also /usr/share/application is to be used recursive, so symlinking /kde to .. doesn't make sense either, for my tasting only non-desktop library dependent apps should be in the main directory anyway.

that's not an evolution bug, evolution is using the directories which are in the xdg specification

Hi, it's Hans Ole Røngaard.
I finally decided I'd had enough of junk mail, and installed a fantastic application that gets rid of it all.
Unfortunately, you are not yet in my trusted senders list!! The only way I'll get your emails is if you follow the steps outlined below:

Here's all you have to do:

1. Press Reply
2. In the body of the reply, type in my AntiSpam Passcode contained in the graphical attachment.
3. Press Send

When I receive this reply, I will know that it was really you that sent me the email and not a
computerized spammer. I will then be able to receive all your mail. This authentication will be
done only once.

Thank you & have a great day,
Hans Ole Røngaard
